Workshop on 'Kids and the Cyber World' at Horsham's Keith Valley MS
The more parents know, the better equipped they are to educate their children, Hatboro-Horsham educators say.

HORSHAM, PA -- It may come as no surprise that a recent study by Common Sense Media reported that tweens and teens spend up to nine hours a day using media for their enjoyment.
This excessive interaction with the cyber world is not only unhealthy for children, but poses dangerous threats ranging from cyber-bulling to sexual predators. Also, daily interaction in with the cyber world leaves young individuals at risk for reputation damage and privacy loss.

Too few tweens and teens realize they are being exposed to such risks. The more parents know, the better equipped they are to educate their children.
On Thursday, April 7 Deborah McCoy, a Social Media Expert, will host a workshop to educate parents on the latest happenings in the cyber world. The workshop titled, “Crossing the Digital Divide: Kids and the Cyber World” will take place at Keith Valley Middle School from 6:30pm-8:00pm.

The workshop will present:
· Currently trending apps and sites among youth
· The latest information on sexting an cyber-bullying
· Privacy and how very little we realistically have
· Permanence of digital speech
· Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snap Chat, Kik and other social media sites popular with our kids, including “secret” apps
All community members are welcome. Keith Valley Middle School is located at 2227 Meetinghouse Road, Horsham, PA 19044.
