UPJ annual 5K run/walk to promote suicide prevention awareness (wtaj.com) — Johnstown-area residents can join the free "You'll Never Walk Alone" 5K Run/Walk at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on Oct. 4 to support suicide prevention. Registration starts at 5 p.m. at the campus gazebo, followed by remarks and the run, plus music, resource tables, and refreshments. Organizers hope to connect locals with mental health resources and honor those affected by suicide.
   

2. Cambria County Woman Pleads Guilty In Murder Case (lightnercommunications.com) — A Johnstown woman has been sentenced to 50 years to life in state prison for her role in the 2022 kidnapping and killing of a 19-year-old autistic man. Prosecutors say she and seven co-defendants lured the victim into a van and took him to a remote Indiana County location, where he was fatally stabbed. Sentencing details for the others are still pending.
   

3. 12 Pennsylvania Towns People Are Quietly Moving Away From (newsbreak.com) — Johnstown takes center stage in a look at Pennsylvania towns losing population, highlighting how the city has shrunk about 65% from its 1910 peak while still offering historic architecture, river views, and accessible city services downtown. The project involves producing and supporting launchers and control systems for a long‑range anti‑ship missile used in the Marines' NMESIS coastal defense system.
