School District of Lancaster board told of improving financial position (lancasteronline.com) — School District of Lancaster officials say short-term loans are fully repaid and both the general and capital reserve funds are back to state-recommended levels, easing immediate cash-flow worries for local schools. However, the district still faces a structural deficit, lingering fallout from past budgeting errors, and an ongoing state compliance audit that will scrutinize operations through 2026.
2. Residents at Lancaster Township encampment get more time to clear out (lancasteronline.com) — People living at a homeless encampment along the Conestoga River between Lancaster city and Lancaster Township have been given until Monday to leave, after enforcement was delayed due to township police availability. The land is in Lancaster Township but owned by the city, and with local shelters often at or beyond capacity, outreach workers warn many residents may end up relocating to another camp rather than finding a bed.
3. Convention center authority seeks OK for more downtown Lancaster event space (lancasteronline.com) — Lancaster residents may soon see a new two-story event and storage building just south of the Lancaster Convention Center, if City Council grants conditional use approval next week. The proposed 2,000-square-foot space would host corporate trainings now held in parking-lot tents and must be built by August 2027 to satisfy a prior demolition condition.
4. Lancaster Stormers broadcasting legend signs off, leaving a legacy of passion, knowledge and gratitude for the game (fox43.com) — Longtime Lancaster Stormers broadcaster Dave Collins has retired after 21 years with the team, closing a four-decade career behind the mic. He reflects on finding a home in Lancaster, his deep ties to the community, and the new Atlantic League broadcaster award that will carry his name forward for local fans.
5. Former Dollywood carousel to be reconstructed, open for operation in Strasburg (local21news.com) — A historic early-1900s carousel once housed at Rocky Springs in Lancaster has cleared a key hurdle to return to public operation in Strasburg. Strasburg Township just approved placing the fragile, hand-carved ride on the Choo Choo Barn property, allowing planners to design a protective pavilion so families across Lancaster County can eventually enjoy it again.
