Video shows 2 running away after 16-year-old killed at Lancaster store (local21news.com) — A 16-year-old boy from Lancaster was killed and another teen wounded in a Saturday night shooting inside a South Duke Street corner store, and police have identified 23-year-old Jaiden Servance as wanted in the case. Surveillance video and a neighbor's home camera captured suspects running from the scene, and Lancaster City police are asking anyone with information to contact detectives.
2. Lanchester Landfill and Caernarvon Township settle their differences over solar array (lancasteronline.com) — A legal settlement has cleared the way for a 20-acre solar array at the Lanchester Landfill, most of which lies in Lancaster County, to power a new facility that converts landfill gas into renewable natural gas. The project, pending state permits, could bring roughly $500,000 in annual revenue while adding to the site's existing trails, disc golf course, and water treatment operations.
3. Open House Tuesday for PPL upgrades near Lancaster city data center (lancasteronline.com) — High-voltage power line upgrades serving Lancaster and nearby townships are moving forward, and PPL is holding an open house Tuesday evening at the Cork Factory Hotel for residents to ask questions. The project will support a massive new data center load, replace 1950s-era infrastructure, and could mean future traffic disruptions, with some costs ultimately shared by local utility customers.
4. Raven Ridge rescues its second coyote in 11 years of operating (abc27.com) — Raven Ridge Wildlife Center in Lancaster County has rescued only its second coyote in 11 years, after a local resident accidentally trapped the sick animal while trying to catch a cat. The coyote is suffering from mange and serious wounds, and staff expect a long rehabilitation while emphasizing how coyotes help control rodents and support healthier local ecosystems.
5. McCaskey unveils new football stadium nearly a month after Lebanon rededicates its gridiron home (lancasteronline.com) — McCaskey High School's football stadium in Lancaster city has reopened after extensive renovations that added turf, an eight-lane track, new restrooms, and upgraded locker rooms and press facilities. Paired with recent upgrades at Lebanon's Alumni Stadium, the changes modernize two historic WPA-era venues that have hosted generations of local athletes and community events.
