Montco-Based Company Lays Off 260 Employees, Attorneys Weigh Class Action Suit

HARLEYSVILLE, PA — A Montgomery County-headquartered company could face a class action lawsuit after laying off 260 employees in New Jersey, according to a law firm investigating the activity.

Accupac, a manufacturer for beauty and personal healthcare products, is based out of offices on 2060 Detwiler Road in Harleysville. The mass layoffs they announced impact their Lakewood, New Jersey facility.

Attorneys with Strauss Borelli are looking to determine if the company violated federal law, as the WARN Act requires that employees be notified 60 days before a plant closes or a layoff goes into effect.

If they did violate the WARN Act, terminated employees could be entitled to up to 60 days of severance pay and benefits, the firm says.

"This notice gives workers and their families time to prepare for job loss, seek new employment, and pursue training or retraining opportunities," Strauss Borelli shared. "The WARN Act aims to reduce the impact of sudden job loss on workers and communities by ensuring they have sufficient time to transition."

Accupac also runs two other facilities in Montgomery County: one on Schoolhouse Road in Souderton, and another on Industrial Boulevard in Lower Salford.

The WARN Notice was posted by the New Jersey Department of Labor in May.
