TOWAMENCIN, PA — Several animals were safely rescued from the fire that broke out at a Towamencin home on Wednesday morning, officials said, as an investigation into the cause remains underway.
No injuries were reported, the Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company said.
The incident began shortly after 10 a.m. on Stratton Drive near the intersection with Liberty Bell Drive. Initial scanner reports indicated that a neighbor reported an "explosion."
Crews attacked flames coming from the roof and rear of the home. Black smoke could be seen billowing up in the air for miles around.
The fire was extinguished before noon.
In addition to the Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company and Towamencin police, the Hatfield Volunteer Fire Company, North Penn Volunteer Fire Company, Harleysville Volunteer Fire Company, Colmar Volunteer Fire Company, Skippack Volunteer Fire Company, and Upper Salford Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene.
