MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, PA — PennDOT has declared "major construction" on the Five Points Intersection in Montgomery Township complete after several years of ongoing work and improvements.

The announcement Tuesday signals an asterisked end to a $14.6 million project that has led to dozens of road and closures since its launch in Dec. 2023.

Minor work, including some occasional lane closures, will still continue over the next several weeks as crews perform final construction activities, PennDOT said.

Five Points, which brings together Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike), Route 463 (Horsham Road/Cowpath Road), and Business U.S. 202 (Doylestown Road), is one of region's crucial intersections.

Work over the past three years has added additional through lanes at the intersection approaches in both directions on Horsham Road/Cowpath Road. Crews have also widened the roadway by three lanes, so that 18 travel lanes now approach the intersection. Signals have been upgraded and retimed, sidewalks and ADA ramps installed, and stormwater drainage and signage improved.

Work is intended to both improve traffic flow and reduce crashes, according to officials.
