Upper Gwynedd Elementary Teacher, Coach Sexually Assaulted 3 Children: DA

The assaults took place over a period of years, police said.

UPPER GWYNEDD, PA — An elementary school teacher and middle school wrestling and hockey coach in Montgomery County sexually abused three different children over a period of years, the district attorney's office said.

Jason Theodore, 54, of Upper Gwynedd, was a physical education at Montgomery Elementary School in the North Penn School District and a wrestling coach for Pennbrook Middle School. He's also a local youth hockey coach.

The incidents occurred between 2019 and 2023, when the victims were between 13 and 16 years old, according to authorities.

Theodore communicated with all three victims online, investigators said they learned. One of the three victims had previously been a student of Theodore's. Theodore waited to contact the child until after the child was no longer in his class.

Theodore used the pseudonym "John" online, solicited sexually explicit photos and videos, and gave them alcohol and marijuana in return, the DA said.

Police said they investigating Sept. 9 after one of the victims reported the abuse to authorities.

Theodore was arrested Sept. 25 by Upper Gwynedd Police and charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, and related counts.

Theodore was denied bail and booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 1.
