It took place on 131 Washington Street, the location of Home City Ice, a packaged ice retailer.

It's not yet clear exactly what caused the leak.

The shelter in place was issued for all residents and businesses within half a mile of the building. Locals were urged to close their windows and to stay indoors, and cautioned that if "you smell ammonia, please leave the area."

The Montgomery County Hazmat team responded to the scene.

The shelter in place was lifted at 3:08 p.m., just under four hours later.

Authorities did not say if anyone was sickened.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
