Man armed a with knife and a taser yells at staff, students at Lebanon school: police (pennlive.com) — Lebanon families should know that police arrested a 32-year-old man who arrived at Lebanon Intermediate School with a knife and a taser, yelling at students and staff. School and city officers intervened quickly outside the North 8th Street building, and no one was hurt. The man faces charges including aggravated assault and weapons possession on school property.
2. Refuse Authority campaign for battery recycling wins national recognition (lebtown.com) — Lebanon-area residents are seeing real results from the Greater Lebanon Refuse Authority's battery recycling push, which has boosted collections and earned national recognition. GLRA is also preparing multi-million-dollar landfill construction and capping projects and discussing funding with state regulators. You're welcome to attend the next public board meeting at 1800 Russell Road in early October.
3. Lebanon's Community Library: 100 years of books, information, and inspiration (lebtown.com) — Lebanon's Edward H. Arnold Community Library is marking 100 years of serving local readers with books, technology, and a growing lineup of free programs for all ages. From summer learning and trivia nights to homebound delivery and POWER Library access, leaders explain how funding, volunteers, and creative fundraising keep this downtown Lebanon resource thriving for the whole community.
4. Lebanon County projects receive over $2 million in gaming revenue funding (lebanonpanews.com) — Lebanon County is receiving nearly $2 million in gaming revenue to upgrade parks, fire halls, police equipment, and local infrastructure, easing the burden on taxpayers. Projects include South Hills Park improvements, Neversink Fire Company paving, Western Lebanon Regional Police firearms, and new vehicles and safety gear for several fire and EMS departments, plus additional statewide gaming grants for more local upgrades.
5. Volunteers have spent five years scrubbing Dinosaur Rock graffiti (ldnews.com) — Lebanon County volunteers have spent five years painstakingly removing graffiti from Dinosaur Rock on Mt. Wilson Road, restoring a beloved local landmark. Working with the Game Commission, hiking and climbing groups, and the township historical society, they've scrubbed layers of paint, increased enforcement against vandals, and are now inviting more residents to help keep the formation clean and welcoming.
