147 Layoffs Coming With Lower Bucks Co. Warehouse Closure

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — A massive warehouse in Falls Township once used by Kmart and Sears during the retailers' heyday will be closing in September.

Transform Warehouse Operations, LLC filed a WARN notice this week with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry that it is closing its facility at 1 Kresge Road in Fairless Hills.

The move is expected to cause the layoffs of nearly 150 workers, the filing states.

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry lists a notice from Transform Warehouse Operations, LLC for 1 Kresge Road in Fairless Hills that identifies 147 affected employees.

The filing states that the 2.2 million-square-foot warehouse, which sits on 92 acres, is expected to close on Sept. 16.

Transform Warehouse Operations, LLC has its other warehouses in California, Florida, and Kansas.

Kmart and Sears used the Fairless Hills warehouse for decades.

In recent years, trucks from Amazon and other retail transportation companies have sat in the parking lot, Levittown Now reported.

The warehouse was originally built after a massive 1982 fire that destroyed the original Kmart warehouse, causing over $110 million in damage.
