8 Pennsylvania Restaurants Among 100 Best For 'Foodies'

If you consider yourself a foodie, you'll want to check out this list.

Eight Pennsylvania restaurants, including seven in Philadelphia, made OpenTable's list of the 100 Best Restaurants for Foodies in America released on Wednesday. (If you're not familiar with the terminology: a "foodie" is described by Merriam-Webster dictionary as "a person who enjoys and cares about food very much.")

Open Table's list was generated from more than five million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners between Aug. 1, 2015, and July 31, 2016. All restaurants with a minimum "overall" score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of qualifying reviews for which "fit for foodies" was selected as a special feature, according to OpenTable.

All but one of the eight Pennsylvania restaurants included in the list are located in Philadelphia. The exception was Bolete Restaurant, a contemporary American dining spot in Bethlehem.

The local restaurants that made the list range from ethnic offerings to American cuisine. For example, the popular Italian spot, Vetri, made the list as well as Zahav, which serves up Middle Eastern dishes. Both are located in Philadelphia.

The list features restaurants from 30 states and the District of Columbia. California leads the way with 17 restaurants.
