Community Rallies Around Croydon Recovery Home

A fire last week damaged a community treatment center in Bristol Township's Croydon section.

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA — The community is rallying around a Croydon recovery home that was damaged in a fire last week.

The fire on Dixon Avenue displaced seven people who were living and receiving treatment in the home.

"I am overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and offers of help to these 7 men," Owner Bryan Kennedy said in a Facebook post. "Treatment Centers, other Recovery house owners, the recovery community, and our community at large have me in tears with your wanting to help."

Anthony Wilson, who is involved in a long-term journey with sobriety, launched a fundraiser to help the victims.

The GoFundMe page has raised over $7,950 of its $7,500 goal.

"Nearly seven years ago, I went to treatment in another state and committed to sober living because I needed structure and a safe environment," Wilson said. "While in treatment, I interviewed with Bryan, the owner of Independence Lodge. His sober living homes in Croydon and Bensalem have helped thousands of men like myself transition back into society. Without Independence Lodge, I truly believe I would not be alive today. It gave me the foundation and maturity I needed to start a new life."

Wilson said the seven men who lived at Independence Lodge lost the first place they could call home, along with all of their belongings.

"Bryan has always poured his heart and resources into making these homes welcoming and supportive, never hesitating to invest in upgrades so residents could feel at home," Wilson said. "Now, these men are in desperate need of help as they try to rebuild from nothing."

Every donation will go directly toward replacing the belongings lost in the fire and helping these men get back on their feet.

"Your generosity will also support Bryan Kennedy, who has dedicated his life to helping others find hope and stability," Wilson said.
