FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — A township bridge has been renamed in honor of a fallen soldier.
State Sen. Steve Santarsiero was on hand this past week as the bridge on Alden Avenue was renamed to honor Private First Class Nathaniel E. DeTample, who gave his life in service to his country.
DeTample was a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, A CO 1/111th.
He was killed in action during an ambush in Beiji, Iraq, on Aug. 6, 2005, at the age of 19.
"I was proud to provide a Senate citation honoring Nate's life and sacrifice to his family for the bridge dedication," Santarsiero said. "Our service members who provide the ultimate sacrifice live on in the memories of their family, friends, fellow service members, and in their communities. These dedications are a meaningful way we can remember and honor their dedication to our country and defense of the rights and values we hold dear."
