Historic Bristol Borough Post Office Recognized

BRISTOL BOROUGH, PA — It's one of the originals.

Since 1775, the Bristol Post Office has served customers as one of the nation's 62 original post offices.

Over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, the historic post office was recognized by the Postal Service and local and federal leaders for its service.

Mayor Frank Peranteau presented a formal proclamation honoring the post office’s enduring role in serving the Bristol community and helping connect Americans for nearly 250 years.

The Bristol Post Office, located at 699 Beaver St., continues a tradition of public service that predates the Declaration of Independence, officials said.

U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick presented a congressional citation recognizing the post office’s historic place in the community and the nation.

Postmaster Ayofemi Grandy accepted the proclamation and citation on behalf of the Bristol Post Office and its employees.

“The Bristol Post Office has been part of this community since before the founding of the United States, and that is something truly special,” Grandy said. “We are proud to continue serving our customers every day and to be part of a legacy that connects Bristol’s past, present and future.”

As America prepares to mark its 250th anniversary, the Postal Service is recognizing historic post offices that have helped connect communities since the nation’s earliest days.
