FALLSINGTON, PA —A student was found with a BB gun in his car on Pennsbury High School grounds, but school officials said it was never brought into the building.

In a letter to parents, Schools Superintendent Thomas A. Smith and High School Principal Reggie Meadows said the district investigated a report Thursday that a student had a weapon in their vehicle.

"The student was identified, questioned, and local law enforcement was contacted," the letter states. "We have no evidence that it was brought into the school and/or shown to students on school property. It was turned over to the local police."

They said that bringing any type of weapon (even a plastic look-alike) onto school grounds is a
violation of the law. The student is subject to criminal charges and school-imposed disciplinary

"As we have shared with previous events, our district is committed to the safety and education of
all our students," the letter states. "We also want to clearly communicate timely and accurate information to families about safety issues when they arise. We encourage students and staff to report any concern of this nature to building or district administration."

School officials are urging parents to discuss the incident with their children and emphasize that it is against the law to bring weapons of any type on school property. Also, please emphasize the importance of telling a trusted adult if they have any concerns.
