Checkers is certainly not a new restaurant chain. Since 1985, the chain has amassed 815 restaurants in 28 states. Despite the saturation, Bucks and neighboring counties have not felt the reach of this mighty burger empire. That changed last Spring when a new Checkers silently popped up practically overnight in Levittown.
Unlike many other fast-food locations, Checkers is all about one thing: food on the go. Besides a few picnic tables outside of the tiny burger hut, the franchise is set up for people who want to drive-in, pick up and go home.
You'll find the standard staples of fast food in the last 50 years at this burger joint including hot dogs, burgers, fries and wings. All of Checkers burgers are build-to-order and flame seared on a grill, making a nice and crispy alternative to heat-lamp based franchises like McDonalds. While the menu is limited in most regards, Checkers' “famous fries” have a large variety of ways to top them off, including having them covered in cheese, bacon, sour cream or all of the above.

A real draw to Checkers Drive-In is its hours of operation. The drive-in is open to midnight during the weekdays and 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. The late hours make Checkers a nice added choice for the places to go for any night crawler out there with a craving for greasy food.
Checkers Drive-In is located on 1138 Oxford Valley Road in Levittown.
