Bloody Knife Leads Penndel Police To Domestic Arrest

The victim told police her ex-boyfriend had two knives and locked her in her apartment before attacking her, then trying to hang himself.

PENNDEL BOROUGH, PA — A Penndel man is under arrest after police say they found his ex-girlfriend holding the bloody knife with which he is accused of attacking her.

Eduardo Vasquez, 60, is charged with crimes including aggravated assault, terroristic threats, false imprisonment, and reckless endangerment in the incident, which happened Nov. 3 but was reportedly publicly by police on Sunday.

That day, Penndel Police Department officers were called to Mill Creek Apartments, on E. Lincoln Hwy., to a report of an armed domestic attack. When they got there, they say they found the victim standing in the parking lot, holding a bloody knife.

She told officers that Vasquez had used the knife to attack her. She said he had two knives and had locked the door of her apartment, preventing her from leaving. After locking the door, Vasquez told the woman he didn't want to leave her and wanted them to be together again as a couple, she told officers.

Police say she was able to distract Vasquez long enough to make it to the apartment's door before being attacked. During the struggle, Vasquez cut his hand and the victim was able to escape and call 911, according to police.

While she was on the phone, the victim said, Vasquez tried to kill himself by hanging, but ended up leaving shortly before police arrived. He was later found at St. Mary's Medical Center, where he was receiving medical and psychiatric treatment, police said.

Vasquez was taken to a psychiatric facility for further care and was later released into police custody. He currently is being held in Bucks County Prison awaiting a court hearing.
