Business and Community Leaders Locked Lips with a Pig in Support of Financial Literacy
Event exceeded its fundraising goals to provide grants to local schools
A pot-bellied pig named Raines received kisses from local business and community leaders at TruMark Financial® Credit Union’s Sixth Annual Kiss-A-Pig Financial Literacy Fundraiser held Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Abington Art Center, Jenkintown, Pa. MORE FM 101.1 radio personality
Bill Tafrow and Philadelphia Union player C.J. Sapong also were on hand for the pig smooching in an effort to raise awareness and funds to support financial literacy programs in local schools.
The Kiss-A-Pig fundraiser is a component of TruMark Financial's initiative, Building Financial Futures, and brings together educators, community and business leaders, and credit union employees to raise money for the privilege of kissing a pig. The Kiss-A-Pig event raised over $45,000 which will be distributed via grants to 15 area schools to provide students with the resources needed to learn the basics of personal finance.

Admission was free and all were invited to watch the participants pucker up for a worthwhile cause. Special guest Pat Ciarrocchi, former news anchor with CBS3, was on hand to share some advice and anecdotes from her personal experiences with saving, borrowing, credit, and loan repayment. She encouraged the children in the audience to, “…use their allowance wisely, give back to their communities, and make their lives worth every penny.”

To date, TruMark Financial has donated more than $220,000 to area schools in need of personal finance resources. The grants have been used to purchase resources such as calculators, computer software, and textbooks to help teach the value of saving and the importance of managing money responsibly.
