Donations Vital to Bristol Township Families Facing Hardships

Food, shelter and clothing are some of the basic physiological needs of human survival. Without meeting those needs, one cannot function optimally – and students cannot learn.

To assist families experiencing hardships and in dire need of those physiological needs, The Gene and Marlene Epstein Humanitarian Fund donated $3,000 to Bristol Township School District. In addition to assisting families with food, clothing, and rent, the money has also been used for other emergencies such as medical assistance and auto maintenance.

“Donations allow students to focus their attention on their education rather than worry about their families’ finances to pay for basic necessities such as food and shelter,” said Dr. Meredith Leach, school social worker at Franklin D. Roosevelt Middle School. “We are very appreciative of the Epsteins’ generous donations over the years. Our families thrive with their help.”

In previous years, the Epstein Humanitarian Fund donated amounts of $10,000 and $20,000 to Bristol Township School District. The District’s Gene Epstein Donation Fund Committee, which includes social workers, school counselors and nurses, determines how to distribute the funds. They identify families in need and connect them with local resources and referrals, carefully assessing the amount of money they need.

“I find that it is important to make people aware of these needs, so they can possibly become donors too,” said Gene Epstein, Bucks County philanthropist.
