'The Earl' Will Ride In Tribute To Fallen Levittown Firefighter
The Edgely Fire Company has named a life-saving tool after its late member David "Earl" Widmann. The tool went into service Tuesday.
LEVITTOWN, PA —The Edgely Fire Company wanted to do something special to honor the memory of the late David "Earl" Widmann.
Their colleague passed away this summer and Widmann's family had vowed to have any donations in his name benefit the fire department.
Well, the fire department in turn wanted to honor Widmann and promised his family that it would purchase some type of life-saving device.

"Our members knew Earl loved to ride the Ladder truck," the fire department's Facebook post stated.
The department purchased a "Strong Arm" tool that is used to force entry or cut materials to access patients or victims in the event of an emergency.

On Tuesday, the fire department placed the tool into service.
The company named it "The Earl."
The fire department said "The Earl" will ride on the Ladder, Widmann's favorite truck, and be ready for use at all times.
"Your memory lives on in the interest of saving lives. We will never forget David "The Earl" Widmann," the Facebook post stated.
