FALLSINGTON, PA —Longtime Pennsbury School District bus driver Donna Parto Abrescia is the projected winner on both party tickets in Tuesday's primary election for a seat on the Pennsbury School Board.
With 100 percent of Bucks County's 306 precincts reporting, Abrescia was the leading vote-getter on the Democratic and Republican tickets for one of two Region 2 four-year terms, according to the Bucks County Board of Elections.
She joins school board member Sherwood David Taylor III, who was also a projected winner on both ballots.

Abrescia had announced her upcoming retirement to the school board last year, telling board members that bus drivers should be recognized for their efforts. The district had been hindered this school year by transportation issues regarding late arrivals and a shortage of drivers.

She was also one of the public speakers regarding the school district's discussions on merger and tuition options with the Morrisville School District.
"That is surprising," said Karen Vander Laan, chairwoman of the Lower Makefield-Yardley Democratic Organization. "She's very vocal and very active, not your typical Democrat. She may have attracted both sides."
School Board President TR Kannan ran unopposed in Tuesday's primary election in Region 1.
Kannan, seeking re-election for a four-year term, received 2,301 votes on the Democratic ticket and 896 votes on the Republican ballot, where there were also 268 write-in votes.
In Region 3, Jeannine Delwiche will be on the Democratic ticket. There is no Republican challenger.
In Region 2, school board members Jim Prokopiak, Gary Sanderson, and Sherwood David Taylor III cross-filed along with Abrescia for three, four-year terms. AJ Ainscoe ran on the Republican ballot.
