Giant's Customers Raise Over $550K For Needy Children

Local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals were helped in a major way as customers at Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets displayed an overwhelming spirit of giving at checkout.

A record sum of more than $553,616 was raised by the annual CMN paper balloon campaign, which ran this year from June 24 to July 7.

Paper CMN balloons were offered for purchase to customers at checkout, for a one-dollar donation to the cause.

“Our customer’s and associates’ compassion to the cause of helping the youngest members of our community is why Giant's/Martin's continues to rank among CMN’s top 10 fundraisers in the county,” said Jeff Beaulieu, vice president of sales and merchandising.

Customers can still show their support for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by purchasing a limited edition reusable CMN bag now in stores while supplies last.

For every reusable bag purchased, Giant's/Martin's will donate 10 cents to benefit local CMN Hospitals throughout its market area.

Beaulieu added, “Your record-breaking donations are making a difference as thousands of kids throughout the regions we serve continue to fight for good health.”

More than $25 million has been raised by Giant's/Martin's since 1996, in support of children’s hospitals in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Danville/Altoona, PA, Baltimore, MD, Washington, D.C. and Richmond, VA areas.
