Interstate 295 Overnight Construction Begins In Levittown

PennDOT said motorists should expect lane closures on both sides of the highway in Bristol and Middletown townships starting Thursday.

LEVITTOWN, PA —Motorists driving on both sides of Interstate 95 should expect single-lane closures as PennDOT begins a two-day construction project on the highway Thursday night.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that rumble strip and delineator installation is planned at night on Interstate 295 under a $44.6 million improvement project to perform high-priority repairs on several structures on I-295, Interstate 95, and Interstate 476 in Bucks, Philadelphia, and Delaware counties.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Repairs to the structures under this project include replacing rocker bearings, frozen sliding plate bearings, and deck expansion joints; cleaning and painting steel beams; repairing substructure concrete; and reconstructing bearing pedestals.

The project also includes the replacement of high mast light poles along the I-95 corridor in Philadelphia and Delaware counties.

Driscoll Construction Company, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
