The chef and owner of a Levittown BBQ shop is sick of Eagles player Sam Bradford — and he made a sandwich to show it.
The sandwich features a boneless fried chicken breast over pulled BBQ pork and a spicy Philadelphia cream cheese and cheddar spread topped with deep fried jalapenos on a potato roll.
Starting at noon Wednesday, Big Q BBQ will be giving away 150 Sam Bradford sandwiches. After that, he will offer it for $5 until he's traded.
The sandwich will eventually sell for $7 (Bradford's number).
“I was setting out to create a sandwich that celebrates National Barbecue Month when all of the reports about Sam Bradford’s ultimatums starting popping up last week,” said Abruzzese. “I was literally experimenting with different ingredient combinations when the news about his not showing up to workouts broke, and I decided that I needed to do something that makes a statement from the fans’ perspective. Instead of just celebrating National Barbecue Month, Big Q BBQ will now be offering Eagles fans and fans of BBQ an incredibly delicious sandwich that hopefully commemorates the end of the Sam Bradford nightmare and the beginning of the Carson Wentz era.”
Abruzzese said all of the ingredients represent his feelings about Bradford. The deep fried jalapenos symbolize the fact that he’s on the hot seat. The pulled pork represents the fact that it’s inevitable that he’s going to get pulled. The spicy Philadelphia cream cheese spread is a nod to Philly. The potato roll symbolizes the fact that he often goes down like a sack of potatoes.
“As a lifelong Eagles fan, there’s no need to explain why I included fried chicken," he added.
Abruzzese has attracted a lot of media attention for his latest creation. He was featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sports Illustrated and ESPN.
Each Sam Bradford sandwich comes with an individually packaged moist towelette, but Abruzzese said he will also make baby wipes available at checkout for any guests who want to take the “cleaning up process to the next level.”
Big Q BBQ is located at 1140 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road in Levittown.
