Wisdom Lane Middle School students and staff are taking the season of giving to heart by participating in several fundraisers to give back to community members in need. Members of the school's Builders Club, advised by Helen Gavin and Rosemary Levano, recently facilitated a Coats for Kids drive. The club also helped run a toy drive with school social worker Nina Glenn, to benefit the John Theissen Children's Foundation.

The students collected 20 bags of coats and winter accessories during their Coats for Kids drive. The Wisdom Lane community donated new and gently used coats, scarves, hats and gloves which will be sent to Assemblyman Dave McDonough's office as part of his "Coats for Kids" campaign. All the donations will be distributed to those in need this winter.

Students and staff also donated gift cards and more than 40 new, unwrapped toys to the John Theissen Children's Foundation. Wisdom Lane participates in the foundation's annual Long Island Toy Drive each year to give back to sick and underprivileged children in the community.
