Levittown Hosts Lady Dragons Earn First Place In Holiday Tournament

The Division Avenue Lady Dragons basketball team won the Kim Klein MacArthur basketball tournament on Dec. 6.
In the first game of the tournament, the Lady Dragons defeated a very tough East Meadow team 50-42. The team took a 23 -10 lead in the first quarter lead by senior Emily Gills, who scored nine points. In the fourth quarter, eighth grader Angel Allen scored eight points to help seal the victory. Freshman Oliva Agunzo had 13 points in the game with six steals. The leading scorers were Allen with 14 points, Agunzo with 13 points and Gillis with 12 points. Senior Haley Thomas added eight points while sophomore Shae McGinty was dominant on the boards and the defensive end.

In the finals of the tournament, Division Avenue defeated MacArthur High School, 68-44. The leading scorer in the game was Gillis with 26 points and went (7-8) from the foul line. Agunzo had 21 points while hitting four (3 pointers). The team in total went 7/14 from 3- point land. Allen added seven points with seven assists. McGinty and Thomas were once again keys to the victor with outstanding defense and over all tough play.
The tournament MVP was Gillis and Agunzo was selected as an all-tournament player. Congratulations, Lady Dragons!
