Longtime Falls Twp. Restaurant Set For Demolition

FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA —For 55 years, Michael's Restaurant & Lounge has served as a township mainstay.

But soon the business at 935 Old Lincoln Hwy. will be demolished to make way for a three-story self-storage warehouse building.

The Falls Supervisors, during its recent meeting, granted preliminary and final land development
approval to Safstor Old Lincoln, LLC to construct the building on the roughly three-acre lot, where
Michael’s Restaurant is situated.

The restaurant has been in business since 1968.

Safstor attorney Julie Von Spreckelsen told the board that the restaurant, as well as a residential
structure would be demolished to make way for the storage facility and 28 parking spaces.

The area is zoned highway commercial, which allows for retail, offices, restaurants, and similar uses.

The Falls Township Zoning Hearing Board granted a variance during the June 13 meeting to permit the self-storage facility.

In other township business:

Supervisors helped to advance a PECO Green Region Program grant application that, if approved, would defray the cost of upgrading the light fixtures at Fallsington Commemorative Park.

Parks and Recreation Director Brian Andrews said the $6,108 project entails switching to LED light
fixtures.

The grant requires a 50 percent match. Andrews said he anticipates hearing if the grant has been
awarded by the middle of 2024.
