Major $2.2M Route 1 Construction Project To Launch In Bucks Co.

Lane closures and other restrictions will be periodically in place in the area for the next year.

PENNDEL, PA — A major $2.2 million construction project on U.S. Route 1 in Bucks County will get underway in August, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced. The project will widen the intersection of Lincoln Highway with Hulmeville Avenue in Penndel, while also adding left-turn lanes and repaving, painting, and milling the road.

Construction is expected to be completed by the summer of 2023. Delays should be expected, officials noted.

New ADA curb ramps and traffic signal equipment will also be installed. A new sidewalk will be installed on the north and south side of U.S. 1.

An exact construction schedule has not yet been announced, but full lane closures will be in place "as needed" as the project continues on Hulmeville Avenue. Closures on U.S. 1 will be in place from time to time during off-peak hours.
