Man Strangled Wife To Death In Bristol Borough Home: DA

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — A Bristol Borough man was charged Friday with the strangulation death of his wife during a domestic incident at their home on Thursday morning — one day after he was released from a hospital while on suicide watch, authorities said.

Michael P. Myers, 59, of Bristol Borough, was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, strangulation, false imprisonment, intimidation of a victim/witness, and possession of an instrument of crime with intent.

Bristol Borough Police responded to the 1300 block of Wood Street around 6:28 a.m. Thursday for a report of a possible deceased person.

The victim's son told police that his mother, 54-year-old Dawn Myers, was dead on the second floor, Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan and Bristol Borough Police Chief Joe Moors said.

She was lying on the floor of a second-floor bedroom with multiple men's neckties wrapped around her neck, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Myers' stepson said he had previously been in and out of the hospital while on suicide watch. He said he spoke with his mom on Thursday, who said Myers was in the hospital on Tuesday and released on Wednesday around 2:00pm.

Myers was brought to the hospital on Tuesday after making threats to commit suicide, the criminal complaint states.

Security footage from the home showed no entry or exit between the evening of August 12 and 6:02 a.m. on Aug. 13, when Michael Myers was captured exiting the front door, locking it behind him, and entering a parked vehicle outside, authorities said.

Officers detained Myers at the scene with visible injuries, including scratches and abrasions to his face, arm, and back.

He still had his hospital bracelet on when he was detained, the complaint states.

Myers was preliminarily arraigned by early on Friday morning, according to court records. He was denied bail due to the homicide charge. Another hearing is scheduled for Aug. 26.
