FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA —A township man has been charged with trying to lure an 11-year-old boy into his vehicle on Thursday, authorities said.

Gene Louis Martin, 54, of Nearwood Lane in the Levittown section of Falls Township, was arraigned Friday afternoon by Magisterial District Judge John T. Galloway on a felony count of luring a child into a vehicle or structure.

The Falls Township Police Department and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office believe that Martin has committed or attempted to commit similar crimes in the past. Authorities are asking for the public’s help for information on those past crimes.

According to police, the boy was walking south on Pebble Lane at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday when a white pick-up truck heading south slowed down and stopped next to him.

The driver looked at the victim and said, “Hey kid. I live around here. Get in,” and motioned for the boy to get in his truck.

The boy ran off and reported what happened to his parents who called police, authorities said.

"Despite just being 11 years old, he had the wherewithal to not engage with the man who was attempting to lure him into his vehicle and ran, then made a prompt report,” Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn said. "We praise this child for his bravery.”

Numerous surveillance videos showed the suspect’s vehicle, which was located in the driveway of Martin's home.

Martin was sent to Bucks County Prison instead of $250,000 bail with 10 percent. His bail conditions include no contact with the victim and no contact with schools or any minors.
