BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA —When the school year resumes after the holidays, the Bristol Township School District will have a new business manager.

“I enjoy seeing students succeed and I truly believe that one of the pillars of a successful school district is a solid financial foundation,” Scavelli said. “I believe my experience as a central office administrator will serve the district and the new superintendent well. I am looking forward to becoming part of a great team.”
Scavelli’s role also includes oversight of all budget, accounting, purchasing, and payroll functions. He will also oversee transportation, facilities, food services, and other enterprise activities.

Scavelli is currently serving as interim school business administrator and board secretary at the Berlin Borough School District.
He started his career in education in 1988 as a high school math teacher, and served as an assistant football and wrestling coach.
“I enjoyed teaching and coaching, but was encouraged and supported by several seasoned administrators to pursue a leadership role very early in my career,” said Scavelli, who has worked as a school business administrator for 17 years and superintendent for 14 years.
He graduated from Glassboro State College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in school business administration. He also earned certificates from the New Jersey Department of Education for school administrator, school business administrator, and teacher of mathematics.
Scavelli says he is humbled by the opportunity to work in Bristol Township School District and will do his best to serve the community.
During his first few months on the job, school officials said Scavelli will focus on learning about the district and preparing for the 2023-2024 budget.
“John will bring a great wealth of knowledge and experience to his role as business manager,” Schools Superintendent Michael Nitti said about the appointment in late November. “The District is looking forward to welcoming him to the team and collaborating together in the new year.”
