New Schools Superintendent Hired In Bristol Twp.
The Bristol Township School District is appointing a replacement for retiring Schools Superintendent Michael Nitti.

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA — With the retirement of Schools Superintendent Michael Nitti at the end of the year, the Bristol Township School Board will be appointing his replacement.
The school board is expected to appoint Amy L. Coleman as its next superintendent at Tuesday night's meeting.
Coleman —who currently serves as the district’s Chief Academic Officer and Director of Curriculum and Instruction — will succeed Nitti and begin her tenure on Jan. 1.

Nitti had informed the school board in June of his intention to retire at the start of 2027.
“We are appreciative of Mr. Nitti’s leadership and service to Bristol Township School District, and we wish him the very best in his retirement,” said James Morgan, president of the Bristol Township Board of School Directors.

The board conducted a comprehensive review and interview process of internal candidates throughout the summer and early fall.
Coleman joined the district in 2021 as Supervisor of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction and was named Chief Academic Officer in 2023.
In her current role, she oversees districtwide instructional strategy, supervises and evaluates principals and curriculum supervisors, and manages instructional budgets and federal program funding.
“The Board has been pleased with the progress made across the district over the past five years and believes that we have several talented administrators who are prepared to lead the Bristol Township School District,” Morgan said. “After completing our vetting process, we were particularly impressed by Mrs. Coleman’s leadership, accomplishments, and commitment to our students and community."
Under Coleman’s academic leadership, the district has seen sustained gains in student growth, helping move multiple schools out of the state’s Targeted Support and Improvement designation.
She has also led the district’s transition to structured literacy and designed and launched its Multi-Tiered System of Supports process.
The district’s literacy work has received attention beyond Bristol Township, with Coleman presenting at the Improving School Performance Conference and serving as a panelist with the Pennsylvania Literacy Coalition.
“I am humbled, proud, and excited to begin this new role in the district,” Coleman said. “I have loved BTSD since I arrived and look forward to continuing our academic momentum while strengthening our partnership with the community.”
Coleman brings more than 12 years of administrative experience in Pennsylvania public schools. Prior to joining Bristol Township, she served as Director of Curriculum and Special Programs at Union City Area School District.
Earlier in her career, she served as an Assistant Principal in Erie Public Schools, where she was recognized as the 2017 National Outstanding Assistant Principal of Pennsylvania. She has also secured state, federal, and private grants throughout her career.
Coleman holds a Pennsylvania Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from Delaware Valley University, a master’s degree in literacy with reading specialist certification from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and principal and curriculum supervisor certifications from Gannon University.
She is currently a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at Youngstown State University and expects to complete her doctorate in summer 2027.
Community Meet and Greet
The district will host a community meet and greet with Coleman on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. at Franklin Middle School.
Coleman will discuss her transition to the superintendent role, share her vision for the district, and answer questions from members of the community. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.
