No Tax Hike In Final Neshaminy School Budget

LANGHORNE, PA —Residents in the Neshaminy School District will not have to pay a tax increase on next year's school budget.

The Neshaminy School Board recently approved a $202,943,851 2023-2024 school budget that holds the line on taxes.

The school district has projected revenues of $198,780,467. The difference will be covered using a portion of the district's unreserved fund balance, school officials said.

The millage rate will stay at 171.23 mills for the upcoming fiscal year, which started Saturday.

At its June 27 meeting, the school board also approved a contract to continue using the Safe2Say Something service, which provides a mobile phone app, website, phone service, and related monitoring and reporting service that allows students and staff to anonymously report threats and safety issues.

The service is contracted through the Bucks County Intermediate Unit and is used by many area school districts.

In other school district news:

  • The school board voted to continue the School Resource Officer program with the Middletown Township Police Department for the schools in their jurisdictions.
  • The school board also approved a service agreement for $5.05 million with the Bucks County Intermediate Unit for special education services.
  • NHS Senior portrait photography sessions begin Monday, July 10. Postcards with appointment information are being mailed out to the Class of 2024.
  • Students and staff at Joseph Ferderbar Elementary School prepared a special surprise send-off assembly for Principal Andre Modica, who retired after 16 years at Neshaminy. The entire school prepared a modified version of a Frank Sinatra (one of his favorites) song in his honor, as well as wearing paper mustaches they created just for the occasion.
  • The July Board Public Meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, in the District Board Room at Maple Point.
