Old Catholic Church In Bristol To Be Converted To Mosque: Report

The group has "outgrown" its current space, according to reports.

A Muslim group is planning to relocate to a former Catholic church in Bristol Borough, according to the Bucks County Courier Times.

The Times reports the Mevlana Camii, which has worshiped for years at the a Beaver Dam Road mosque, is hoping to convert Immaculate Conception Catholic Church off Bristol-Oxford Valley Road into a mosque as the congregation expands.

A Mevlana Camii spokesperson said the congregation has grown to 75 families and is in need of more space, which prompted the $1.8 million property purchase, according to the Times.

In order to move forward with the conversion, which includes removing pews, adding rugs, and painting the interior, the group must get occupancy permits and set up its non profit status, the spokesperson told the Times.
