Oxford Valley Mall Express Store Closes

The fashion retailer's store in the Middletown Township mall fell victim to the company's recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA —A store in the Oxford Valley Mall has fallen victim to troubled economic times.

The Express Store has permanently closed in the mall, one of numerous locations around the country that shuttered after the fashion retailer filed recently for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in federal court.

The store was holding a "Going Out of Business" sale with items heavily discounted at more than 60 percent off the original purchase price.

The Columbus, Ohio-based Express Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in federal court in late April, announcing that it would close 95 of its 550 Express retail stores and all 10 of its UpWest stores.

The company operates about 530 Express retail and Express Factory Outlet stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, in addition to roughly 60 Bonobos Guideshop locations as well as online operations for these brands, its website stated.

The company began offering women's fashions before expanding to men's wear. It branded itself as a retailer providing trendy office attire at affordable prices.

An Express store in the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem Township closed in 2020.
