PA Turnpike Bridge Rehab Work To Impact Lower Bucks Drivers

The Levittown bridge rehabilitation project is expected to last into mid-August and impact drivers on the PA Turnpike and Interstate 95.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Drivers heading eastbound and westbound on the PA Turnpike and approaching Interstate 95 northbound and southbound should be prepared for traffic changes this week due to the ongoing bridge rehabilitation project, officials said.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission said the nighttime traffic paces are in the area of the Levittown/Bristol Interchange (Exit 42).

  • A temporary stop sign will be in place for motorists merging onto the mainline traffic from the Delaware Valley Interchange #42 Acceleration Ramp northbound onto I-95 NB toward the Delaware River Bridge and NJ Turnpike.
  • This will be in place starting this week through Sunday, Aug.
  • Slow-moving traffic paces on Friday, July 19 from 12 a.m. until 5 a.m.
  • There will be intermittent, 15-minute traffic paces in this area.  The slow-moving traffic paces are necessary for the protection of motorists and workers so crews can safely perform bridge repairs.

The bridge, which carries I-95 traffic over East Penn Railroad, is at milepost 42.35, just east/north of the Levittown/Bristol Interchange, Exit 42. This is the seventh of eight traffic paces for this bridge rehabilitation project.

During the slow-moving traffic paces, Turnpike maintenance and state police vehicles will restrict Turnpike traffic to a speed of 20-25 miles per hour.

Drivers traveling in these directions on I-276 and I-95 in Bucks County are encouraged to plan travel accordingly.

Pennsylvania State Police and Turnpike personnel will be positioned in the impacted areas to assist drivers.

Changeable message signs will also provide information. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
