Pennsbury School Celebrates 'Unique' 70-Year Anniversary

It's the first elementary school in the United States named after Walt Disney, Pennsbury officials said. A ceremony is set for Friday.

FALLSINGTON, PA — The Pennsbury School District will celebrate the 70th anniversary of Walt Disney Elementary School, a landmark institution that holds a unique place in educational history as the first elementary school in the United States to be named after Walt Disney.

Since opening in 1955, Walt Disney Elementary School has inspired generations of students through a tradition of creativity, imagination, and academic excellence.

The school remains one of the few educational institutions in the nation with a direct connection to Walt Disney himself.

When the school opened, Walt Disney visited the building and gifted a collection of original Disney artwork that remains on display throughout the school today.
