FAIRLESS HILLS, PA — Several Pennsbury School District students ingested THC-laced edibles at a middle school on Thursday and became ill, officials said.
Pennsbury Schools Superintendent Thomas A. Smith sent an email to the middle school and high school community informing families about the incident.
Smith said that the incident happened at the William Penn Middle School where a "small number of students" allegedly ingested edibles laced with THC (the chemical component in marijuana) and became ill.

"Our student code of conduct clearly states that drugs are not permitted on school campuses and students will be disciplined accordingly," Smith said in the email, which was also signed by High School Campus Principal Reggie Meadows and several other principals.
Smith said that each fall, the Pennsbury Parent and Family Academy provides presentations to families related to online harassment and substance use among teenagers.
The topics are also covered with students as part of our curriculum.
"We recognize that these topics can sometimes be difficult to discuss, but we are committed to addressing the issues facing our students and our schools," Smith said.
