LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —PennDOT has unveiled the plan to reconfigure the double intersection near the Oxford Valley Mall.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation held a public forum on Dec. 19 to provide details on the upcoming $12 million project in Falls and Middletown townships.

PennDOT plans to untangle the mess that motorists have dealt with for years near the mall and Route 1 at Bristol-Oxford Valley and North Oxford Valley roads at Lincoln Highway.

The intersection improvements project involves the reconstruction of North Oxford Valley Road as it approaches the Lincoln Highway intersection from the north and south, in Falls and Middletown townships.

Bristol-Oxford Valley Road will be re-aligned to intersect N. Oxford Valley Road to form a new signalized intersection across from the Oxford Point Shopping Center.

The project limits extend along North Oxford Valley Road 750 feet to the north of Lincoln Highway, and along Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, 1,730 feet to the south of Lincoln Highway.

The project limits along North Oxford Valley Road begin 1,020 feet to the east of the intersection with Bristol-Oxford Valley Road.

The project limits along Lincoln Highway extend 1,017 feet to the west and 930 feet to the east of the intersection with North Oxford Valley Road and Bristol-Oxford Valley Road.

Improvements at the intersection of North Oxford Valley Road and Lincoln Highway include widening of both roadways for dual left-turn lanes at all four approaches to the intersection, and for a northbound right-turn lane.

The project includes modification of curb radii and concrete islands, new curb, sidewalk, and ADA-compliant curb ramps.

The existing traffic signals and mast arms will be replaced, and new drainage structures such as inlets, manholes, and pipes will be installed throughout the project limits.

Traffic signal improvements will include signal optimization, emergency pre-emption, and video detection.

No structures are included in this project, PennDOT said.

PennDOT held a virtual public meeting on Dec. 19 to provide details on the upcoming project and answer questions.

Members of the public who were unable to attend the online meeting can review the meeting recording and/or provide feedback on the project using the online comment form.
