Police Officer Assaulted By Pennsbury Student: School Officials

An altercation between Pennsbury High West students led to the assault, officials said. The school was placed on temporary lockdown.

FALLSINGTON, PA —Pennsbury High School West was placed on temporary lockdown Tuesday morning after an alternation between students that led to a police officer being assaulted, school officials said.

In a post to the Pennsbury community, Schools Superintendent Thomas A. Smith and High School Principal Reggie Meadows said Falls Township police were on campus responding to an altercation between students.

During this time, a student allegedly assaulted a police officer, school officials said.

The incident resulted in the student being detained and removed from the building, which was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure, school officials said.

Some students left the building and are being directed back to campus now by police and school security.

Attendance is currently being taken to ensure all students are accounted for. Classes have resumed, and at no time were any other students in danger, school officials said.
