Round II Win For Prokopiak In Lower Bucks Race: Unofficial Results

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —He won once in a special election. And in Tuesday's general election, State Rep. Jim Prokopiak once again won the same seat against the same challenger, according to unofficial results.

In the 140th Legislative District, Democrat Jim Prokopiak defeated Republican challenger Candance Cabanas.

With 100 percent of Bucks County's 304 precincts reporting, Prokopiak received 17,282 votes (54.09 percent) while Cabanas received 14,588 votes (45.66 percent). There were 81 write-in votes.

Prokopiak won a special election in February to replace John Galloway.

The former Pennsbury school director and Falls Township supervisor then faced Republican Candace Cabanas, a Falls Township native, once again on Tuesday.

Galloway resigned to become a district justice, causing a 101-101 split of the state House of Representatives. Prokopiak's win retained the Democratic party’s control over the House of Representatives.

The two candidates squared off during a special election in February with Prokopiak receiving 3,143 votes, or 85.36 percent. That was six times more than Cabanas, who garnered 518 votes, or 14.07 percent, according to the Bucks County Board of Elections. There were also 21 write-in votes.

Voter turnout Tuesday was 80.3 percent.

All results from the Bucks County Board of Elections are unofficial.

The 140th Legislative District includes 33 voting precincts across Morrisville Borough, Tullytown Borough, Falls Township, and some of Middletown Township.
