Rubber Duckie Relocating To New Home At Sesame Place
The iconic duck has sat atop Sky Splash since 1995. Sesame Place officials are moving it for the new tropical-themed Big Bird's Beach.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA —Rubber Duckie is making way for Big Bird.
Sesame Place —the children's theme and water park right off Route 1 —has removed the iconic rubber duck from its perch atop Sky Splash where it has sat greeting visitors since 1995.
Meagan Passero, Sesame Place's communications manager, said the move was made as the park prepares for construction of its new tropical-themed land, Big Bird’s Beach.

The structure, which includes the Rubber Duckie and the soap dish it sits on, weighs about 200 lbs. and stands at 11 feet tall.
Meanwhile, Sky Splash, a six-story family raft ride, will become Elmo’s Surf ‘n’ Slide this summer in a re-imagining of Twiddlebug Land, Passero said.
Sesame Place announced last month that Twiddlebug Land would be transformed and updated as it becomes Big Bird’s Beach.
The beach will be home to the new Elmo’s Surf ‘n’ Slide, Rosita’s Seaside Slides, Abby’s Splash & Spray Garden, and Little Bird’s Bay.
Also debuting this summer is Bert & Ernie’s Splashy Shores, an all-new water play adventure area. Big Bird’s Beach and Bert & Ernie’s Splashy Shores are part of the park’s "Most Splashtacular Season Ever," she said.
