He was with the Princeton University Department of Public Safety for 17 years, rising to various leadership roles and giving him a background in all aspects of educational institution safety and security.

“We were impressed with Mr. Miller’s qualifications and his experiences with schools and students,” Polzer added.

The U.S. Marine Corps veteran possesses a variety of security credentials and certifications, school officials said.

Miller also has experience as an educator and a coach, which makes him uniquely qualified for the position.

“We truly believe that anyone who works with our students, in our schools, is an educator,” Polzer stated. “Mr. Miller certainly embodied those qualities and expectations.”

Miller will be involved in all aspects of the district’s security initiatives, including event operations planning, and emergency response, and as a liaison to the police.

“I am appreciative of this opportunity and looking forward to working with the staff, getting to know the students, and making sure the schools are safe and secure places to learn," Miller said.
