SCORE Bucks County to Hold 2nd Women Building Businesses Event

Hundreds of women business owners and entrepreneurs are expected to attend SCORE Bucks County’s second annual Women Building Businesses event at Parx Casino East on June 20.

The half-day event features a keynote address and an interactive audience activity led by J. Kelly Hoey, an acclaimed business columnist, networking expert and author of “Build Your Dream Network.”

Hoey will share how businesswomen, in particular, can build and nurture their network of connections for business success.

“Network building is really about community development and relationship building,” Hoey said. “How do you get things done? You get them done with the help of other people. If you can’t call on a network, you probably have a low return on generosity.”

In addition to learning more about networking beyond traditional means, attendees will hear from digital marketing expert Donna Botti of Collegeville-based Delos Inc. Botti will discuss “What’s your unique brand proposition” and will shed light on how businesses can get heard in the crowded digital world.

“Your business’s value proposition is arguably the most important element of your overall marketing messaging,” according to Botti. “A value proposition tells prospects why they should do business with you rather than your competitors and makes the benefits of your products or services crystal clear.”

During lunch U.S. Small Business Administration Regional Administrator, Mid-Atlantic Region, Michelle Christian will share SBA strategies for women entrepreneurs.

SCORE Bucks County volunteer and certified mentor Linda Zangrilli selected this year’s speakers. Zangrilli, who helped organize the chapter’s first-ever Women Building Businesses event in 2017, said she expects even more attendees to turn out on June 20.

“SCORE Bucks stands behind its mission of supporting the local business community. Given that roughly half of new Bucks County businesses are women-owned, our chapter decided to coordinate events to support our women entrepreneurs,” Zangrilli said. “We invite all local women in business to join us for a day of empowering discussions, networking and invaluable peer support.”
