Services For State Rep. Melio To Be Held Today, Tomorrow

Melio died on July 19 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He was 80 years old.

 

Levittown native 80-year-old Anthony “Tony” Melio, who represented Pennsylvania’s 141st House District in Pennsylvania for 24 years, is being remembered as a “champion of the people," Bucks Local News reports.

Melio died on July 19 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He was 80 years old.

Bucks Local News reports the lifelong Democrat was also a Bristol Township commissioner for the Ninth Ward for nearly two decades.

Local and state officials Rep. Michael Fitzpatrick and State Rep. Tina Davis both shared their sentiments of Melio.

“Tony Melio embodied the spirit of public service during his time in Harrisburg,” Fitzpatrick said on Bucks Local News. “As the people’s representative from Lower Bucks County, Tony carried out his duties with dignity and perseverance. His commitment to his family and his community were the hallmarks of his service. I had the privilege of calling Tony a friend and neighbor, and my thoughts and prayers are with the Melio family in this difficult time."

Bucks Local News reports  reports Davis, who succeeded Melio in office, said in a Facebook posting, “We are all dealing with a lot of sadness and heavy hearts today as we cope with the passing of my predecessor and dear friend Tony Melio."

Services for Melio will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church at 66 Levittown Parkway in Levittown with a viewing from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and at 10 a.m. on Tuesday followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m.
