Spring Parks and Recreation Programs Abound in Falls Township

Falls Township is offering an Earth Day cleanup, swimming lessons and more this spring and summer.

The Falls Township Parks and Recreation department is offering diverse programming for the 2015 Spring/Summer season.

Earth Day

Volleyball

Volleyball anyone? Falls Township Parks and Recreation is looking to hold a one-day co-ed adult volleyball tournament at the Falls Township Community Park on Saturday May 18, 2015. This will be a double elimination style tournament played in a 6 vs. 6 format. Interested parties must register as a team. We will be accepting a maximum of eight teams. Fishing Derby

Swimming

The Pinewood Pool is a great way for our residents to cool off and spend quality time with family. Pinewood Pool offers swim lessons, family theme party nights, teen splash nights, and much more. Que for Troops

This year’s Que for the Troops event is going to be better than ever! It will be held on Friday June 5, 2015 at the Falls Township Community Park. In addition to the annual barbeque competition, which benefits the Liberty USO, we have added many new activities to this portion of the weekend. The evening will kick off with a 5K run at approximately 5:30 p.m. Event proceeds will be donated to Wounded Warriors. The Delaware Valley Roadrunners will be hosting a Cruise Night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m in the Phase 1 parking lot area at the park. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., children will have access to some rides, people can purchase food from BBQ vendors, and adults (21 and over) can enter a beer garden with a mechanical bull. Live music will be performed by Legends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Family Festival

On Saturday, June 6 the Family Festival portion of the weekend takes place. Here are the tentatively scheduled event times:

Craft and food vendors: Noon to 8:30 p.m.

Car show (Phase 2 area): Noon to 4 p.m.

Children’s rides/games: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Live music: 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Face painting and balloon art: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Military vehicle display: Noon to 8:30 p.m.

Summer Camp

Falls Township Parks and Recreation is taking registrations for our 2015 Summer Camp Program. Camp is for children ages 5-13. Camp runs from Monday, June 29 through Friday, August 7. Adult Kickball

One of our most popular activities from 2014 was our Adult Kickball League. Falls Township Parks and Recreation is excited to announce that it will once again be running an Adult Kickball League beginning in July and running through September. Boat ramp passes

Do you know Falls residents can save money on the purchase of a daily pass for the boat ramp parking lot at Quaker Penn Park if they purchase one at the township building as opposed to the kiosk at the boat ramp? A resident pays $10 for a daily pass if purchased at the township building as opposed to $20 if purchased at Barbara Loessy at (215) 949-9000 ext. 221 or at loessyb@fallstwp.org.

Falls Township Parks and Recreation is happy to announce they have added an additional concert to its annual Summer Concert Series lineup for 2015. All concerts take place under the pavilion in phase 1 of the Falls Township Community Park on Sundays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Here’s this year’s schedule:

Yoga

Yoga takes place every Monday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in room 105 in the parks and recreation office. Program is run in six-week intervals. Cost for a resident is $52. Cost for a non-resident is $58. The daily drop-in rate is $10 per class.
