Suspect Nabbed In Middletown Twp. Jewelry Store Heist

Middletown Township Police have charged a Fairless Hills man with the crime. He was wanted for other crimes around the Philadelphia region.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A Lower Bucks County man has been charged with the burglary of a jewelry store in late September, police said.

The Middletown Township Police Department said that Christopher Nicholas Plytas Jr., 46, of Fairless Hills, was charged with a burglary at Michael Jeweler’s at 1321 E. Lincoln Hwy. in the Langhorne Square Shopping Center on Sept. 27.

Plytas was charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Criminal Mischief, Theft by Unlawful Taking, Receiving Stolen Property, 2 counts, Possession of Controlled Substances, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was sent to the Bucks County Correction Facility in lieu of $100,000.00 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 29, Lt. Stephen E. Forman said.

Police said that Plytas was linked to the U-Haul truck used during the commission of the burglary. The suspected U-Haul used in the burglary was recovered later that morning after the burglary at Racquet Club Apartments and impounded.

On the morning of Sept. 28, Plytas fled from Falls Township Police in a stolen Home Depot truck and headed into Middletown Township.

Later that day, the vehicle was located by police on First Street in Langhorne and was impounded.

Police said that Plytas has a history of fleeing from police and putting the public at risk.

Plytas has a past criminal history of burglaries in the township in 2000-2001, then again in 2010, and also was known by police departments throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Plytas has been wanted by Upper Southampton Township Police, Falls Township Police, Pennsylvania State Parole, and other agencies.

With in a short time after the Middletown Township arrest warrant was issued, the US Marshall’s Service, Philadelphia Fugitive Task Force, who were already tracking Plytas, located him in the area of Philadelphia Mills and took him in custody without incident.
