Truman High School to Pilot Kinky Boots

The first-ever high school production of the musical premiers December 2019

LEVITTOWN, PA---On March 11, 2019, Bristol Township School District’s Board of Directors approved Truman High School’s Drama program’s proposal to pilot the first-ever high school production of the highly acclaimed Broadway musical Kinky Boots. The performance, licensed by Music Theatre International, will be held in December 2019, in the Lou Volpe Auditorium at Harry S Truman High School, Levittown, PA.

Kinky Boots is an exhilarating story, inspired by true events, about a son who inherits a struggling family-run shoe factory and teams up with a cabaret performer to produce a line of high-heeled boots to save the business.

Based on the 2005 film of the same name, the play received six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Kinky Boots is based on the uplifting book written by four-time Tony winner, Harvey Fierstein and features a joyous, Tony-winning score by Cyndi Lauper.
