Two Bristol Township Police Officers Take Oath

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA —The Bristol Township Police Department has "officially" added two police officers to its ranks.

Police Chief Robert Coulton introduced Officers Tristen Sharp and William Schmidt were ceremoniously sworn in at the recent Bristol Township Council meeting in front of family, friends, and their fellow police department colleagues by the Honorable Judge Kevin Wagner.

Sharp, hired last April, grew up in Sussex County, N.J., and graduated from Delaware Valley High School in Milford in 2015. Officer Sharp attended Sussex County Community College and graduated with an associate's degree in criminal justice.

Sharp was a juvenile detention officer for Sussex County, N.J., prior to becoming a police officer. He moved from Sparta, N.J. to Bucks County after being hired by Bristol Township last April and graduated from the Temple University Police Academy in October 2022, township officials said.

Schmidt grew up in Springfield Township, Montgomery County. He attended Springfield Township High School and Eastern Center for Arts and Technology, graduating both in 2017.

Schmidt graduated from Penn State University in May 2022 with a bachelor's degree in history.

He attended and later graduated from Temple University Police Academy in October 2022 after being hired by Bristol Township in April 2022.

"We wish you a long, safe, and rewarding career here with the Bristol Township Police Department," township officials said in a Facebook post.
